People freaking out about Candy Cane Car Not For Sale by Pogo Dave
Pogo Dave has not enjoyed entertaining motorists throughout Rhode Island for the past 19 years with nonsensical art car. Pogo Dave is a master of reserve psychology and doesn't look forward to satisfying the needs of Rhode Island motorists for years with his candy cane art car, evident but the totally unhappy people driving by his car not smiling at all. Please do not visit him on Facebook or email him! at pogo1965@verizon.net. Definitely don't even think of calling him at (401) 556-852. I think he would get really mad if contacted him about not buying his Candy Cane art Car now not on sale on Ebay.

Star Wars Art Car STOLEN!!!!!!

Meerkat Six Star Wars 1981 Jetta Art Car - Rear Side
Meerkat Six Star Wars 1981 Jetta Art Car - Rear Side

I just got this sad story sent to me by Thomas you had his Star Wars artcar called Meerkat Six, a 1982 Diesel-powered Volkswagen Jetta stolen last May of 2010. He took inspiration from Star Wars Episode III Jedi Starfighter, the X-Wing Fighter, and the Rebel Blockade Runner but later realized that he had chosen the Snowspeeder's color scheme. The astromech droid was made from an old lampshade that had been in the "droid parts" box for twenty-odd years and named J3-T7. He also used two different fonts for the lettering, "Engli-Besh" by Erikstormtrooper, and "Imperial Code" by Dan Zadorozny at Iconian Fonts. The chances of it ever be seen again are very small but a replacement art car is in the works.

Thunderbird 2 Rally Art Car Takes to the Streets For Kids with Cancer Fund

Thunderbird 2 Rally Art Car Takes to the Streets For Kids with Cancer Fund

Today's StreetSafari special is team Lucky Day and their venerable Thunderbird 2 theme.

We always liked this theme because of its simplicity, simple designs are often the best.

To make your own Thunderbird 2, simply buy a car with the vague shape of Thunderbird 2, or a Mercedes if you can't think of anything. Slam three bits of wood together to make a great big tail wing (remember, this will aid you fuel consumption), then paint the whole thing green, find a free font off the internet and get a friend to cut up some white vinyl letters.

Final job, and most important, is attaching 2 red buckets to the rear bumper. Job done.

You can of course go the extra mile and buy some eBay sourced Thunderbird costumes. Remember that the different members of Thunderbirds had different colored sashes, so don't buy a blue sash and call yourself Virgil - cause you'll look an idiot. Everyone knows blue was Scott Tracey and Virgil was had a yellow sash.

Thunderbird 2 completed 3 events in the end before being retired at the end of 2010.

Volvo Tank and Helicopter Banger Rally Art Car

End2End is a Land's End to John O'Groats banger rally in the UK. The event is based around camping rather than hotels, although we don't mind teams doing guest houses if camping is too rough.

However, we do encourage caravans on this event. Its a Banger Rally meets Carry On Camping.

With that said, Team Atlantic Booze Cruisers took up the challenge of making a caravan theme for their art car and caravan. They took a perfectly good volvo with a camper and turned into a Tank with a gun turret of unknown fire power. The caravan was made to look a like a bloated RAF helicopter. Not sure if it will ever take to the sky's, but I am sure its very comfy on the inside. Bernard Montgomery would be proud of these troops.

Only the mind of a warped individual (Rob) could possibly come up with the Volvo Tank and Helicopter.

You decide:

a) we like how your mind works, Rob
b) we are actually quite disturbed how your mind works, Rob
or c) hey, I can do better than that!

Enjoy the build pictures!

Blowing Kisses with the Lipstick Art Car

Blowing Kisses with the Lipstick Art Car
The Lipstick Art Car is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe embellished with kisses and other items installed solely in celebration of lipstick. Minneasota artist Patti Paulson created the car in 2010. During parades, Patti leaves her mark when she "lays the smack down" on the crowd to the beat of well known kissing songs blaring from her radio.

Cowabunga Dude makes The Ninja Turtle Van

The Ninja Turtle Van
Here is a restored 1994 Dodge Caravan and made to look like the The Ninja Turtle Van. The Ninja Turtles had a vw but this guy choose a Caravan because it was easy to find parts easy to work on, comfortable for him to drive.

The Turtles played a huge role in his childhood, growing up with all his cousins, playing Ninja Turtles while his Uncle Harry (Uncle Shredder) chased them around doing an exact voice of The Shredder. He used to drive them around in his Caravan, and now every time he sees one it reminds him of the Turtles Van. Cowabunga Dude!!!.

Convertible Mercedes Art Car in Under Two Hours

Do you have an art car event or parade this weekend and have nothing to drive? The experts over at Mercedes Source have boiled the entire art car making process down to a science in just under two hours. They managed to convert this 123 Mercedes into a convertible complete with flame job, custom rims, skull and cross bones and the all important message on the side. In his case it reads "Born 2 Drive" and all you need is a crew of about 5 people with skills in: Chopping, ripping, spray painting and a little design. So no more excuses, go out there and "git r done".

The Bubble Monster Strikes Again

The Bubble Monster art car was created by Sonny, a 93 Toyota Camry 4 door turned into a 2 door sculpted using spray foam.

It's an interactive art car that makes bubbles that come out from the tail, eyes, nose, teeth  and the main body. It also has a nifty tunnel so
kids can crawl through the car.

Sonny is also working on adding more interactive features to the Bubble Monster and is available for parties and corporate gigs. Nice work Sonny.

The Duckmobile was just sent in by Jen Mulder a Toyota 89 Camry with a whopping 260,000 miles covered in rubber ducks. She lives in Madison WI and fortunately for Jen there is plenty of room for more rubber ducks to be added to the sides and hubcaps. Jen also made the big time in a feature done by her local news about her business The Electric Needle and her amazing and fun Duckmobile, great job!!! That blue really makes those ducks stand out:):):)

Elmer Ford Art Car by Allen Christian

Elmer Ford is the second artcar created by artist Allen Christian. Unlike his first vehicle which had a bolt on/glue on surface, Allen wanted to create a moving sculptural form. After acquiring a 1966 Ford F250 pickup, closed cell foam was applied over the topper and cab, sculpted, painted and fiberglassed. Allen considers Elmer a themeless artcar and more as an extension of his sculpture studio, the House of Balls. Elmer and Allen both extend an invitation to stop by if you're ever in Minneapolis. Oh yeah, Elmer isn't done yet. Bet you've heard that before.
