Serpent Twins Jormungand and Julunggul Need Your Help

The Serpent Twins Jormungand and Julunggul are the latest creations from Jon Sarriugarte and Kyrsten Mate, who also created the Golden Mean snail car and adorable zippy Electrobyte trilobite car.

The Twins need your vote to win the Boca Bearings 2012 Innovation Competition grand prize of $10,000 that will be awarded to the best "innovative mechanical project that utilizes ball bearings, roller bearings, linear bearings or any form of full ceramic or ceramic hybrid bearings anywhere in the application."

If Jon and Kyrsten win they say that if they they'll use the prize money to "buy a stacker trailer to transport the twins to events like Maker Faire, schools, and festivals to inspire the next generation of artists, engineers and makers." I know you want them to win in a bad way and so does everyone here on art car central so go ahead and VOTE HERE. Do it for the children!!!

Its been way over a month since my last art car entry, but I am back and ready to tackle and art car a day maybe two just catch up. What better way to get back in the game than with The Electrobite Olenoides, a wonderful metal trilobite vehicle that you can ride around on, build from an electric wheelchair . It was created for Burning Man 2009 by Jon Sarriugarte and Kyrsten Mate of Form & Reform, the same guys who made the SS Alpha Fox, Golden Mean Snail Car. and the The Serpeant Twins.

Art Car Fest 08 Video - at "How Berkeley Can You Be" Parade

Art Car Fest is this weekend September 25-27th going on all over the SF bay area, and this video I shot from the inside of my mercedes pens art car during the last years event at the Berkeley Parade. I was a lot of fun as it is every year during this time and I believe this weekend will be a ton of fun as usual. Some of the cars in this video are: Glass Quilt, Golden Mean, Radio Flyer, The Lorax and the Mercedes Pens.If you can make it out to see us here is the schedule of events:

Friday, September 25
noon - 5pm Amoeba Music Caravan!
Keep your eyes open for our ArtCar caravan through San Francisco. We'll be touring such favorite sites as North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, The Castro, The Embarcadero, Golden Gate Park, and Ocean Beach. You can catch up with us at 3:30PM at Sports Basement at Crissy Field (in the Presidio.)

Saturday, September 26
Noon - 8pm Salsa Festival!
ArtCar Fest will dip into the sauce as we exhibit at the Redwood City Salsa Festival! Three stages of live music, great food, lots of family-friendly activities, and now ArtCars!

Sunday, September 27
11am - 7pm Berkeley's LAST SUNDAYS FEST
We'll hang all day with our friends at Amoeba Music on Telegraph in Berkeley at the new Last Sundays Festival.

Snail Ar Car - Called the Golden Mean

This beauty is brought to you by blacksmith Jon Sarriugarte, who fabricates custom home furnishings, and his wife, Kyrsten Mate, who literally dreamed up the concept. "I woke up and said, 'We have to build this giant snail,'" she said. "It totally wasn't planned. This whole project has been weird coincidences and math." They transformed a 1966 VW Bug into the rolling piece of art. The Golden Mean is making its debut at the Burning Man art festival this year. The Snail Ar Car glows in the dark and shoots rings of fire from its feelers. It also seats six people.

They are also the creators of the The Serpeant Twins and the adorable zippy Electrobyte trilobite car.
